Psychotherapy with Teens

The teen years are notoriously difficult. They face a myriad of challenges as they navigate the transition from childhood to adulthood. It is a time filled with stress and emotional turmoil as they establish individuality, grapple with peer relationships, and form their own identity. Psychotherapy provides a safe and non-judgmental space where they can be free to ask questions, express their emotions, and gain clarity and confidence in their sense of self.

The Therapeutic Process

While teenagers are still learning the language to express themselves, therapy can provide a safe space where real feelings can be talked about. Parental collaboration and encouragement are crucial to your teen’s psychotherapy journey. While some parenting consultations are necessary to enhance treatment, I encourage parents to respect their teen’s privacy to allow trust to develop in the therapeutic relationship. Through our conversations, they will develop insights that will empower them to make positive changes and navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience and self-awareness.
